RUSSIA IS TIGHTENING ITS GRIP ON CRIMEA

The article which appeared yesterday on the 'VICE' news website got me very scared. It basically talks about the beginning of the war. That is the link to the story: http://www.vice.com/read/russia-is-tightening-its-grip-on-crimea.
First of all, I must say that knowing the history of my country (Lithuania) as being the part of Soviet Union in the past, also knowing how hard it was to 'get rid of the Russia' and how many people risk and lost their lives for it, I feel very sympathetic for the Ukrainian people at the moment.
The war is terrifying, because if the war does happen, conceivably, Russia would occupy or at least try to do that to my country as well. Again...
Even if they do not, Ukraine is close enough to my country and my country would suffer from it too.
People in Lithuania are already panicking about that. Yesterday, the social website 'Facebook' was full of statuses about the coming war. The media in the UK is not making that much fuss about the war coming, as much Lithuanian media does.
Going back to Ukraine, it says on the article that Russia had planned three-stated occupying operation. The first one is taking care of airports, blocking the roads and all the transport and communication nodes. That allowed Russia to take care of people's moving in and out of the country and manipulate the Ukrainian government.
''In the second phase, Russian troops spread across Crimea and moved into position to forestall any armed response from the Ukrainian forces already in the area'' ( http://www.vice.com/read/russia-is-tightening-its-grip-on-crimea)
The third state is just to go and get their forces into positions and start defending their guns.
Therefore, Russia has started to bringing heavier units to Ukraine (Crimea).
The Ukrainian army on its own is large enough to eject the Russian troops from Crimea but their ability to stand against Russian force in many ways is doubtful.
Lets just hope this whole terrifying ordeal doesn't ruin or destroy lives...

Russia’s Anti-Gay Vigilantes Exposed in Their Own Shocking Videos

I found this article with video in the 'World Time' news website. I found the video very shocking and even more upsetting. That is the link to the story:  http://world.time.com/2014/02/05/watch-russias-anti-gay-vigilantes-exposed-in-their-own-shocking-videos/
It shows how gay man is being beaten on camera.  The gang is mentally and physically abusing the gay person, asking him to rape himself with a bottle.

“A video of assaults compiled by Human Rights Watch shows gay men set upon by gangs, humiliated, punched, kicked and forced to torture themselves on tape. Activists said the gangs, with names like “Occupy Pedophiles,” recorded the attacks and styled themselves as defenders of Russian children. Human Rights Watch said the attacks coincided with a surge of anti-gay rhetoric from Russian leaders and media figures promoting an official ban on gay “propaganda.” As for the propaganda above, Human Rights Watch met with one of its victims, 28 years old, who said police had yet to carry out a meaningful investigation or identify any of the suspects on tape”. (http://world.time.com/2014/02/05/watch-russias-anti-gay-vigilantes-exposed-in-their-own-shocking-videos/)

The most shocking part of all this is that the Russian government is not fighting gangs like that, contrarily  – gangs like that stand for the government’s opinion about gay people.
Gangs, calling themselves defenders of the Russian children, are showing a completely wrong way of thinking and obviously, behaving to Russian children. It is very sad that the children are growing up, watching this kind of example. There is no bright future for anyone, neither for straight, neither for gay people in the country if the government is illiberal towards its own people.

Robber who broke into hair salon is beaten by its black-belt owner and kept as a sex slave for three days

I always have an interest in reading these kind of weird Russian stories because they always are so  hard to believe. Such a big and in a way, powerful country usually seems so sadly primitive and wild.
The article which was published in Daily Mail website talks about the man, who tried to rob into the hair salon. The owner of the salon caught him and kept as a sex slave for three days in a black room. The lady tied him naked and fed him viagra.
What makes it even more fascinating is that the lady owner of the place has a black belt in karate and her victim was floored by the single kick, and after was tied up with the hair dryer cable. (Feels like a scene from some legendary film)
That is the link to the story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2013870/Robber-broke-hair-salon-beaten-black-belt-owner-kept-sex-slave-days-fed-Viagra.html
It is kind of funny at first however it seems like people would react differently if a women would be kept as a sex slave.  That is complete sexism if you think about it.
Anyway, it is obviously the weirdest and the most freaky way in dealing with robbers I have ever heard of.
After 3 days, the would-be robber had been released with saying that he had learn his lesson.
When the man went to police and told about the sexual and mental abuse, both of the characters had been arrested.
The lady called the robber "an ungrateful bastard" : she bought him jeans and even gave 1000 roubles when he left.

I am not sure in which parallel universe it is okay to rape people if you give them trousers and money after. Definitely, not in this world!

IS HIRING AN INTERNET HITMAN IN RUSSIA AS EASY AS ORDERING PIZZA?

Several weeks ago I read the article in Vice's website with the name 'Is hiring an internet hitman in Russia as easy as orderring pizza?'. I was quite excited to read it and after reading it I was quite shocked.
That is the link to an article : http://www.vice.com/read/the-internet-hitmen-of-eastern-europe

It is a news story about the websites on the Internet which have been developed to find and hire a hitman mainly in Russia, but it could be done in other countries too. It is shocking that kind of websites are not that hard to find, as we might think. They are easy to find, open and they are well- developed websites.
(That is the picture of the website, introducing the services it is providing.)
This story was added into the 'tech' section of the website...
In an article there are some screenshots of the frequently asked questions by the users of the websites.
Users are asking if it is fine to hire a hitman for more than one person to kill, and they were given the answers that even 4 is fine.
What was fascinating for me that the ways of paying the hitman are same as in every normal supermarket or clothes shop: card payment is available as well as payment by cash and bank transfer. Such a convenient system developed!
When it comes to the murder itself, many options are offered: " death from natural causes or an unfortunate incident”; "'random' murder in a fight (for example in an assault at night),” or the “classic” ordered hit. Prices for these depend on various factors, like as the location of the victim and whatever challenges the hitman may need to overcome to complete the job. For an additional fee, customers can request a slew of optional freaky extras: leaving the target naked in the forest; having them dig their own grave, getting them gagged with a rag soiled with urine. The customisation options are pretty vast: the list of sexually violent acts is also advertised, the most graphic being “rape by a gay man, shaved head, over 100kg and loves virgin ass,” which is yours for just $1,000. "  (http://www.vice.com/read/the-internet-hitmen-of-eastern-europe )
As the proof of the work being done you can choose from the victim's picture taken in a death scene or a body part. Ear and finger are given as an example.
As well as drug dealing website 'Silk Road', the hitman hiring websites are easy reachable and available for everyone.
Overall, hiring a hitman in Russia is as easy as orderring a pizza, just more expensive, which is scary.
